Here at CDC NSW we thrive on great customer service and applaud our staff when they remind us how important it is to always serve our communities through exceptional customer service.

One of our customers wrote to us saying “It gave me pleasure to witness a true act of kindness by one of your drivers”

Naeem from Hillsbus Northmead Depot operated the 603 service from Knightsbridge Shops. On the 12th of January 2018 he received a compliment from a regular customer on board his bus who witnessed Naeem help a customer that needed assistance.

The customer wrote saying “This morning this bus driver realised one of his regular customers that needed assistance hadn’t arrived at the bus stop. Not only did the driver stop at the bus stop, he got out to see if this customer was walking to the bus stop. Once he saw this customer walking up, he waited patiently for her to board the bus and take a seat”.

Naeem you have shown great customer service here well done and thank you for your commitment.

Christmas Bus 2
Christmas Bus 2

As the year 2017 is coming to a close it is beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Christmas at CDC NSW is around the corner when our famous Christmas Buses hit the road.

As an annual festive initiative, buses that run from Dural are decorated in particular Christmas themes to help raise money for the Children’s Westmead Hospital. Our Dural Depot Manager leads the initiative every year and his team have yet again successfully transformed these buses to transport us to the North Pole! In previous years, this initiative has been a huge success and without a doubt will be a great success again this year.

Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network Chief Executive, Dr Michael Brydon said: “Some of our patients spend the festive season in hospital and unfortunately do not get the opportunity to head out to see the Christmas lights with their families.

This time of year is all about giving and Lights for Kids is the perfect way to be involved and help sick kids live their healthiest lives.”

“Our drivers have worked hard on making these Christmas Buses the best ever and they get a lot of satisfaction out of not only helping to raise money for a worthy cause but also providing some Christmas cheer for our customers,” said a Hillsbus spokesperson. “Once again we hope our customers will get into the festive spirit and be generous in their support.”

The Christmas buses are out on the road till the 6th January 2018 so keep your eye out and hop on in. As passengers jingle all the way on the Christmas Buses they are encouraged to donate by placing money in the buckets provided in each bus or to go to

Hillsbus wishes all customers a safe and a Merry Christmas.

Bus Safety Week 6-12 November 2017

NSW Bus Safety Week will be held from 6–12 November 2017 to highlight the importance of bus-related safety issues for all road users.
Bus Safety Week is part of the ‘Be Bus Aware’ campaign which aims to reinforce the road rules relating to buses to the community and promote safer on-road interactions between pedestrians, motorists, bicycle riders and buses.

Each year, Bus Safety Week helps raise awareness for all road users on how to stay safe on and around buses, helping to reduce injuries and fatalities.

Buses cant stop quickly Pedestrians 650x163

Pedestrians made up the largest group of bus fatalities over the 2012 to 2016 period. Bus Safety Week promotes safety for pedestrians, who should:

  • Plan ahead and don't rush for the bus
  • Follow the rules and cross with care
  • Avoid being distracted by mobile devices
  • Stand back from the kerb when waiting for a bus.

Buses cant stop quickly Drivers 650x163

We know that because of their sheer size and mass, buses cause severe outcomes for other road users in crashes. Buses can't stop quickly and drivers should:

  • Give way to buses
  • Not merge too closely in front of buses
  • Slow down to 40 km/h when bus lights are flashing.

Hillsbus patrons have generously contributed $9,450 to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead through last year’s Christmas Bus appeal.

Hillsbus drivers spent many hours decorating the six themed buses which travelled across the network in November and December, collecting money from passengers in donation buckets, and every cent will be presented to the Hospital on Monday 23rd of January at 12pm.

“We are so grateful for the support of Hillsbus and the dedication of drivers for creating such amazing Christmas displays in support of the Hospital. The effort the community has gone to and the funds raised through this appeal really have helped to brighten the lives of sick kids,” Gilly Paxton, Director of Community Relations and Marketing at the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network said.
