The History of ComfortDelGro Cabcharge

In 2005, ComfortDelGro and Cabcharge acquired the businesses and assets of the largest bus operator, the Westbus Group in Australia's most populous state, New South Wales. This venture marks ComfortDelGro's entry into the Australian market. Our partner in this venture is Cabcharge Australia Limited who owns 49% of ComfortDelGro Cabcharge Pty Ltd.

In July 2006, the Group through its subsidiary, ComfortDelGro Cabcharge, acquired bus routes and assets of Holroyd Bus Lines Pty Ltd in the New South Wales' Metropolitan Region 3. A year later, the Group acquired the business and assets of Toronto Bus Services, a bus and coach operator in the Newcastle region of New South Wales. In November 2008, the Group together with Cabcharge Australia entered into a contract to acquire the fourth largest bus operator, Kefford Group in Victoria for A$149.2 million.

In New South Wales, CDC is the largest private bus operator with a fleet of 1,176 buses (as at June 2011). It operates the Hillsbus, Westbus and Hunter Valley Buses services.

Westbus Region 1: Serving the areas of Blacktown, Penrith, Richmond and Windsor. This contract is shared with two other operators.

Westbus Region 3: Serving the areas of Fairfield, Cabramatta, Liverpool and Wethrill Park. This contract region is shared with 3 other operators.

Hillsbus Region 4: Serving the areas of Blacktown, Rouse Hill, Castle Hill, Dural & Parramatta. This region is operated solely by CDC’s Hillsbus.

Hunter Valley Buses Regions 2 & 4: This region is commonly known as the Hunter Valley region where CDC operates from depots located at Thornton, Singleton, Edgeworth, Morisset and Toronto

Chief Executive Officer - Jim Glasson

Mr Jim Glasson joined the Group in June 2009 and is the Chief Executive Officer of ComfortDelGro  Cabcharge Pty Ltd. Prior to joining the Group, he was Director General of the Ministry of Transport  (MoT) in New South Wales (NSW) since February 2006. Before his appointment as Director General, Mr  Glasson was MoT's Deputy Director General and Executive Director Policy & Strategic Co-ordination Group where he was responsible for the leadership and direction of the Ministry’s policy functions and Ministerial support unit.

Mr Glasson was previously Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Port Kembla Port Corporation. Mr Glasson holds a Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning (Hons) from the University of New England, NSW, Australia.
